Apple Watch challenges with friends
Every Apple Watch workout and your daily steps reach Outmuscle Me through Apple Health, nothing typed in, scored into private challenges with friends.
iPhone and Apple Watch, plus any watch whose app writes workouts to Apple Health.
Setup
Connect once. That is the job.
Connect
Open Settings in the app, choose Apple Health and allow workouts and steps when iOS asks. There is no account to sign in to.
Train as usual
Every activity Apple Health records is sent over on its own. Nothing to export, nothing to type, nothing to remember on the way out of the gym.
Watch it score
Each sport carries a coefficient, so a kilometre on the road and twenty minutes under a bar are each worth what you would expect — on your own board and in every challenge you are in.
What syncs
Everything Apple Health records,
under its own name.
Runs, rides, swims and walks land as distance. Gym sessions, yoga and sports land as minutes. Each arrives under the sport it was, so a challenge can count exactly the ones you choose.
Daily steps come from Apple Health, whether it is the watch or the phone in your pocket counting them.
Challenges
Set the terms. Settle it.
A challenge is private until you hand out the code. You pick the sports, the dates and what each is worth; Apple Health does the reporting, and the board settles the rest.
-
Runs, rides, swims, gym time — count one sport or all of them.
-
Friends on any watch or phone are scored by the same rules.
-
Nothing is typed in, so nothing is rounded up.

Questions
Asked about Apple Health
Does Outmuscle Me work with Apple Watch?
Yes. The watch writes every workout and your steps to Apple Health, and the app reads them from there once you allow it. No account to connect and nothing to sign in to.
I wear a Polar, Coros or Garmin with my iPhone. Will those workouts count?
If their app writes workouts to Apple Health, yes — Polar Flow, the Coros app and Garmin Connect can all do that. Switch the export on in their app and the workouts arrive here the same way an Apple Watch workout does.
Which workouts count?
Runs, walks and hikes, rides, swims, rows, skiing and snowboarding measured in distance. Strength and functional training arrive as gym minutes, and yoga, HIIT, pilates, martial arts, climbing, tennis, football, basketball, dance, jump rope and flexibility under their own names.
How is this different from a competition in the Fitness app?
Apple's competition lasts seven days, is Apple Watch only and is scored on rings. Here you set the length, the sports and what each is worth, and anyone with a Garmin, Fitbit, Suunto, Wahoo or Android phone can be on the same board.
Do I still have to log anything by hand?
Not what the watch records. Push ups, pull ups and anything else it does not time you can say out loud in the app or type in, and it counts the same as a synced session.
Is the Apple Health integration free?
Yes. The athlete app is free, and so is connecting a device. Coaches pay for their workspace; the people they coach do not.
